At Mayfield Beef Shorthorns produce elite health cattle concerning bovine TB, Johne’s disease, Leptospirosis, IBR, BVD and Neospora. All breeding stock is checked annually under the SRUC Premium Cattle Healthcare Scheme(PCHS).
All our cattle are fully performance recorded under BREEDPLAN and we are gold standard five-star rated for our performance recording. In addition to this linear classification is carried out on all calved cows and stock bulls. All potential replacement heifers are locomotion scored and pelvic measured at 13-14 months’ of age as are our young for sale breeding bulls around 20 months’ of age.
